Giuseppe Gabellone
b. in 1974, Taranto, Italy
lives and works in Paris, France
Giuseppe Gabellone is interested in perception, specifically how we perceive objects and images in art. In 2009, he fastened large image-printed fabric sheets onto metal structures, positioned them in industrial landscapes, and photographed them as the fabric billowed in the wind like sails. Although only a small segment of the surrounding environment is discernible in each of the photographs, they serve to expand on the images of clouds and children printed on the sheets. Gabellone twists our perception, creating stationary objects that move, then creating static images of the moving objects, which themselves depict images.
